RFK Jr.’s security adviser considers filing lawsuits and criminal charges against Olivia Nuzzi

Gavin de Becker, security adviser to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., says the former presidential candidate may take civil action and even file criminal charges against him over allegations that he had an inappropriate “personal relationship” with New York magazine writer Olivia Nuzzi.

Speaking to Substack writer Jessica Reed Kraus, who is close to Mr Kennedy, Mr de Becker confirmed that he is advising the former presidential candidate on the matter.

Ms. Reed Kraus, one of the most popular writers on Substack who regularly covered the Kennedy campaign, also said in her HouseInhabit newsletter that Ms. Nuzzi aggressively pursued Mr. Kennedy to get attention.

According to Reed Kraus, Nuzzi’s advances toward Kennedy began with a “flirtatious remark” during a phone conversation after her profile was published. Kennedy, Kraus said, declined Nuzzi’s multiple requests for in-person meetings.

Mr. DeBecker, who is also in charge of Elon Musk’s security, told Ms. Reed Kraus: “This had nothing to do with romance. He was haunted by porn.” Mr. de Becker told Ms. Reed Kraus that Mr. Kennedy had hired his security firm to investigate the matter in order to prepare ammunition for possible civil and criminal litigation.

De Becker also said Kennedy repeatedly declined invitations from Nuzzi to meet in person, except for the one time they met when she was profiling him in an article his representatives described at the time as a “contract killer.”

Ms. Reed Kraus further writes that Mr. Kennedy repeatedly blocked Ms. Nuzzi’s phone number and email address in the eight months following the publication of her profile of him in New York Magazine, except on a few occasions when she used other numbers and email addresses or when she lured him into unblocking her with promises of important information relevant to his campaign.

Representatives for de Becker’s security firm did not immediately respond to New York Sun requests for comment.

But in Washington, where the fascination with this story is growing, a counter-narrative has emerged: Kennedy was involved in Mrs. Nuzzi’s advances.

As The Daily Beast reported on Saturday, Ms. Nuzzi’s boss at New York magazine, David Haskell, was informed that Mr. Kennedy had boasted that he possessed explicit photographs of the reporter and that they were in a romantic relationship.

Dylan Byers wrote in his Puck newsletter that Ms. Nuzzi had sent Mr. Kennedy “modest” nude photos.

Ms. Nuzzi did not respond to requests for comment.
