UPDATED: One man dead, another in custody after fatal early morning shooting in north Fargo – Grand Forks Herald

FARGO – Fargo police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred around 1:15 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, outside a residence in the 1300 block of Eighth Avenue N. The area is one block northwest of the Family Fare supermarket.

Police cordoned off about a half-block around the Pershing Park apartment building. The neighborhood remained quiet throughout Saturday.

According to a police news release at 2:13 a.m., officers were dispatched to the scene where they discovered an adult male victim who had been shot. His name was not released.

The suspected shooter, identified as Tyreik Taylor-Roberts, who lives at that address, was taken into custody without incident.

Taylor-Roberts, 24, was formerly employed at Deek’s Pizza and was interviewed by The Forum in February 2021 about the increased pizza orders during a Super Bowl in the middle of the pandemic.

A weapon was seized at the crime scene that was presumably used in the shooting.

According to police, Taylor-Roberts admitted to being the shooter and was booked into the Cass County Jail on murder charges.

According to the press release, the circumstances of the incident are still unclear. Fargo police have secured the area and are investigating the incident. No further information is currently available.

Police are asking the public to be patient while officers gather the facts.
