Man dead after Langley gang shooting: IHIT

One man is dead and another injured after a shooting in Langley on Saturday evening. Homicide investigators say the shooting is related to a gang crime.

Mounties said they responded to shots fired near the corner of 196th Street and 84th Avenue around 6:30 p.m. and found two men suffering from gunshot wounds.

One victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while the other is being treated for unspecified injuries, police said.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team provided few details about the case in a news release late Saturday night, but said evidence suggests the shooting is linked to the ongoing gang conflict in BC.

IHIT said no suspects had been identified yet.

“It is likely that this was a targeted use of firearms and an isolated incident. The investigation is still in its early stages,” the press release states.
