Campaigns begin with a 10-week march to Election Day

Campaigns begin with a 10-week march to Election Day

Over the next ten weeks, Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump will travel across the country to make their case to voters.

Harris is trying to ride the wave of momentum following the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, while Trump is hoping to regain momentum after independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. suspended his campaign and endorsed him.

The first big event for Trump and Harris is their debate, scheduled for September 10 in Philadelphia. Trump is pushing for more debates, and Harris’ team is open to scheduling a second debate in October, but nothing is set yet.

The vice presidential candidates will also meet on the debate stage. The debate between JD Vance and Tim Walz is scheduled for October 1st.

But by that time, voting will already be underway. In some states, early voting begins on September 20.

Aside from the election campaign, Trump has another day on his agenda in September. On September 18, he is due to be sentenced in his New York hush money trial. However, there is a possibility that the verdict will be postponed until after the election.

In May, Trump was found guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business records. His sentence, set by Judge Juan Merchan, could range from probation to four years in prison.
