ALSFELD
Popular tradition

22.09.24 – It was a sporty affair: Last Saturday, a club tournament took place on the tennis courts of the Alsfeld Tennis Club (ATC), which has been a popular tradition for several years.

16 participants play in a mixed mode, in which women and men compete together in doubles. The focus of this hobby tournament is always the joy of tennis and, above all, the togetherness within the club – and not necessarily the simple sporting victory, as ATC chairman Marcus Römer emphasized.

Numerous games in varied constellations

Despite the cool autumn temperatures, the club members attended numerous interesting parties in a variety of constellations. The partners in the preliminary round were always drawn anew – by the youngest participant in the tournament, the lucky 13-year-old Svea. Before the semi-finals, everyone fortified themselves together at the sumptuous barbecue buffet before the decisive matches began: In the final, Amelie Hölscher and Yanic Rühl and Ina Berger and Andreas Armbruster faced each other. Although Hölscher/Rühl played in this formation for the first time, they were still able to hold their own against the excellently harmonious duo Berger/Armbruster for a long time. Berger and Armbruster ultimately won convincingly. After the match point, both pairs received thunderous applause from the spectators.

As the evening progressed, the club members – players, spectators and helpers – spent a few pleasant hours together in a relaxed atmosphere and agreed that the tournament was a great event in the club’s annual calendar before the ATC’s annual general meeting with the subsequent end-of-season celebration on Saturday, September 28th.
