Weather in Hamburg | Forecast: Sunny start to the week, then autumn comes

Beaches and parks in the north were well attended over the weekend. But the warm spell was coming to an end. Temperatures will soon drop significantly.

Busy beaches, crowded promenades and busy cycle paths were the main sights in northern Germany over the weekend. In late summer weather, many people flocked outside to enjoy the warm rays of sunshine. In Timmendorfer Strand, many strolled across the newly opened pier and used beach chairs or the sand to enjoy the air, which was up to 21 degrees Celsius.

Some brave souls even went into the cold Baltic Sea water, which was about 16 to 17 degrees. In Hamburg, temperatures rose to as much as 24 degrees. Many people strolled along the Elbe or spent time in the parks and green spaces.

According to the German Weather Service (DWD), the good weather could return again at the start of the week. A few showers are possible in Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg during the day, but sunshine is also forecast. In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania it will remain dry and sunny all day, especially in the east of the country. Temperatures will reach 21 to 24 degrees on Monday.

But autumn is approaching. “A low pressure area is bringing increasingly changeable weather to the north,” said DWD meteorologist Jens Kieser to the German Press Agency. By Tuesday, temperatures will be just 18 to 20 degrees with heavy showers and thunderstorms.

The DWD is expecting fresh, windy conditions and numerous showers towards the weekend.
