“Awakening” receives a frustrating release date update

As an open-world game in the dune Universe, Dune: The Awakening seems to be the next best thing to living in Frank Herbert’s novels. Because awakening exists in an alternate timeline where Paul Atreides does not exist, there is a general Dune-like Status quo that permeates the entire presentation awakeningYou can join the various Great Houses of the Landsraad, join the Fremen, or perhaps become a smuggler – as Gurney Halleck did in his spare time.

In total, Dune: The Awakening is shaping up to be an amazing open-world experience. However, fans will have to wait a little longer than expected to dive into the sands of Arrakis and ride those worms for themselves. Developer Funcom has just announced that “Dune: The Awakening will be released for PC in early 2025″ and “console dates will be announced at a later date.”

With Funcom stating that the game will be released on PC in “early 2025,” it seems like a pretty safe bet to assume that the game will be fully released by March 2025. However, since the console release date hasn’t been confirmed at all, it’s very likely that it could come out much later. Based on recent gameplay reveals, Dune: The Awakening must be nearing completion. But when can we actually expect the release?

Dune: The Awakening indicates a real open world – with a catch

Because awakening is primarily a massive multiplayer online game, the biggest attraction will probably be the idea that you can explore the different aspects of the larger dune world. Unlike the first novels and films, this means you can join houses other than just House Atreides.

That is, the open world of Dune: The Awakening doesn’t seem to be so big that you can just settle down on another planet and just hang out there. While it seems like you could probably ally yourself with House Corrino or House Harkonnen, the actual gameplay doesn’t seem to extend beyond the planet Arrakis itself. The game’s latest official description reads: “This is your Dune. The most dangerous planet in the universe. A Dune where Paul Atreides was never born and an assassin war rages between Atreides and Harkonnen.”

This clearly means that, unlike recent tabletop games, Dune: Empire — This includes factions and worlds as distant and specific as the Bene Tleilax – Dune: The Awakening — the ability to ally with various Great Houses in Dune: The Awakening will only be limited to what you can do on Arrakis. This is clearly not a flaw in the game, but rather a feature that allows a version of Arrakis to be fully explored in a way not achieved since 1992’s addictive point-and-click game. Dune, which primarily used the aesthetics of the 1984 David Lynch film for its world building. That said, if you are looking for more of a strategy game and less of a survival game, the 2022 game Dune: Spice War is definitely there and still playable.

Ultimately, Dune: The Awakening seems long-term dune Fans with an impossible dream: to live in a completely believable and completely realistic version of Arrakis. Even though the game is coming later than fans would like, this still seems like the next best thing to actually moving to Arrakis and accidentally becoming the leader of an extremist cult.
