UPDATE: Shooting at Motel 6 was probably accidental, woman charged – LaGrange Daily News

Police have charged a woman with allegedly making false statements in connection with an incident at the Motel 6 in LaGrange in which a man was shot.

On Monday morning, Sarah Long turned herself in to police and was charged with tampering with evidence and making false statements in connection with the motel shooting.

Police began investigating the incident around 11 p.m. on the evening of August 13. Officers from the LaGrange Police Department responded to the Motel 6 on Lafayette Parkway on a report that a person had been shot.

When officers arrived, they found the male victim suffering from a gunshot wound and transported him to an Atlanta-area hospital for emergency treatment. At this time, police were unable to locate the exact location of the incident or the shooter.

After further information, police were able to determine that the incident was an accidental shooting that occurred in a motel room.

Long is currently being held in the Troup County Jail on $3,000 bail.
