(CBS-DETROIT) – A town in southeast Michigan is giving Gilmore Girls fans the opportunity to visit Stars Hollow.

Downtown Brighton will be transformed into TV Town on Saturday, September 21st from 10am to 7pm for Destination Stars Hollow: A Gilmore Fan Celebration.

Each downtown store will cover a different aspect of the show, and visitors can enjoy food from Luke’s Diner, shop in Lorelai’s closet, participate in a knitting marathon, enter a character costume imitation contest, and more.

In addition, there will be special merchandise to purchase and photo opportunities.

Kathleen London and Laura Boote, the event’s founders, said they thought their hometown was cute and decided to take inspiration from “Gilmore Girls” and recreate Stars Hollow to connect the community with local businesses.

41 businesses along Main Street and the Grand River will participate and there will also be events at the Mill Pond Amphitheatre.

They also created a pass that guests can purchase for $5 and have stamped at various businesses during the event. If a person visits 20 of the 41 businesses, they can turn in the pass and be entered into a drawing to win a basket.

“Each store has a theme. Either an actual location in Stars Hollow, a character-based location, like someone’s closet or something like that, and then inspired by an actual episode,” London said.

Additionally, limited edition tote bags, as well as Lorelei-inspired baseball t-shirts and crewneck sweaters will be available for purchase.
