Apple Watch 10 rumors: Everything we know so far

The Apple Watch Series 10, also known as the “Apple Watch 10” or “Apple Watch X” among tech enthusiasts, is expected to be released soon if Apple follows its usual release schedule. We expect the Apple Watch 10 to launch at the same time as the iPhone 16 in September.

As mentioned, the Apple Watch 10 is expected to be released in September 2024. For reference, here are the release dates for some previous generation Apple Watch devices.

Apple Watch 10 Price

There are no credible leaks regarding pricing, but the Apple Watch 10 is expected to have the same starting price as its predecessor: $399.

Design of the Apple Watch 10

For reference: The display size of the Watch Series 9 is somewhere between 1.6 inches and 1.8 inches, depending on which size you get. The display of the Apple Watch Ultra is 1.9 inches large. Apart from that, Gurman claims that technically the Watch 10 will offer a new display size that is closer to the two inches mark.

Gurman’s claims echo a report from Ming-Chi Kuo, another respected Apple analyst, who said the Apple Watch 10 will come in new sizes: 45mm and 49mm (as opposed to 41 mm and 45 mm).

You may be wondering, “If the Watch 10’s display is going to be closer to that of the Apple Watch Ultra 2, does that mean the Watch Ultra 3 will also get a new design?” According to Gurman, the next-generation Apple Watch Ultra will not do not feature any major design changes. Keep in mind that the Ultra line is relatively new, debuting in 2022.

Kuo also claims that Apple may add a new color with a darker shade to the Apple Watch 10, but the specific color is unclear.

Finally, Gurman claims that the Watch 10 will feature a new magnetic mechanism for straps, making it easier to swap out for other styles.

New features of the Apple Watch 10

According to Gurman, these are the following health tools Apple has been working on for the Apple Watch:

• Blood pressure monitor

• Sleep apnea sensor

• Glucose monitor

However, Gurman said there were some issues while testing the blood pressure sensor. Although the Cupertino-based tech giant had planned to include the new health tool in the Apple Watch 10, it may not make it into the final product. Therefore, it may be delayed until the Apple Watch 11.

“There were particular concerns about whether the blood pressure feature would work properly in the new Series 10 design,” Gurman said.

Battery life of the Apple Watch 10

If I can get two days of battery life out of the new Apple Watch 10, I will happily give up my Apple Watch Series 9 for it.

Apple Watch 10 watchOS 11

Fortunately, Apple has already announced its plans for the next major Apple Watch software update: watchOS 11.

Apple Watch 10 will launch with watchOS 11, but this update will also support Apple Watch Series 6 and newer models (as long as you have an iPhone XS or later with iOS 18 or later). Apple Watch SE 2nd generation is also supported by watchOS 11.

Is the Apple Watch 10 worth it?

If the Apple Watch 10 comes through with at least one of the rumored health tools, be it sleep apnea detection or blood pressure monitoring, it will definitely be more helpful for those who want to keep an eye on annoying snoring and high blood pressure. Plus, the Apple Watch 10 has some stiff competition considering the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 already has these features.

If Apple fails to fix the alleged issues with the new health tools, it might be worth waiting for the Apple Watch 11.
