Roy Jones Jr. has no doubts who “should win” the undisputed fight Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol

Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol will face each other next month to crown the first undisputed light heavyweight champion since Roy Jones Jr.

The two pound-for-pound stars make for an exciting clash of styles in the ring: Beterbiev with his raw power that has allowed him to finish every fight by knockout, and Bivol with his calculated and calm boxing style that, despite only achieving one stoppage in his last ten fights, has done the job with relative ease each time.

After years of waiting for the duel, in which both men dominated the division against all opponents, and after an initial postponement due to a training injury to Beterbiev, the champions will finally meet on October 12th at a Riyadh Season show in Saudi Arabia.

Speaking to FightHype, Jones said Bivol should win the fight and explained his plan for doing so – patience.

“I think Bivol has the better chance because he’s more of a boxer who can throw punches, but Beterbiev is one of the best punchers we’ll probably ever see in his weight class. So he’s always dangerous, but he’s also been down a few times… If Bivol can use his feet in the first three, four rounds to avoid the power, he should win the fight. But if he gets caught, you don’t know, because I’ve never seen him get caught by a guy who hits with the speed that Artur hits with.”

For many analysts and fans, this fight is a real highlight and one of the toughest in boxing.
