One man is dead and another is in critical condition after police say someone followed them as they left a party in Miami Gardens on Sunday night and fired shots at the car with three young children inside.

Police arrived in the area of ​​183rd Street and 45th Avenue shortly after 9:30 p.m. after they said someone opened fire on the white Nissan, killing the driver and leaving the passenger in critical condition.

The three young children who were sitting in the back seat were unharmed in the shooting and have since been reunited with their families.

According to investigators, it was a targeted shot.

It is currently unclear whether police are looking for one or more shooters, but they believe it is possible that the shooting is related to gang crime.
