BREAKING NEWS: Edo State election result announced from Deputy Governor Shaibu polling station with smile for APC

The results of the Edo State elections are being announced as Okpebholo of the APC attempts to democratically oust the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday.

Benin City, Edo State – As the 2024 Edo gubernatorial election draws to a close in many parts of the state on Saturday, September 21, the All Progressives Congress (APC) emerged victorious at the polling station of Philip Shaibu, the reinstated deputy governor.

Legit.ng reports that Shaibu’s polling unit is located in Ward 11 PU05 in Etsako West Local Government Area (LGA) of Edo.

Update on the election in Edo

As reported by The cable On Saturday evening, September 21, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the APC candidate, crushingly defeated his main challengers Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Olumide Akpata of the LP.

The APC received over 1,000 votes, while the PDP and the Labour Party together received 28 votes.

There was great joy among Okpebholo’s supporters over the APC candidate’s overwhelming victory at the Shaibu polling station.

Earlier, the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) at the Shaibu polling station had malfunctioned. The deputy returning officer said the technician took the machine to a nearby classroom to fix the problem. The error was later fixed and voters were able to exercise their franchise.
