1 dead, 4 injured in two-alarm apartment fire in Towson, officials say

A nighttime apartment fire in Towson left one man dead and four people injured, including several children.

At 12:03 a.m., emergency crews responded to a reported fire at an apartment building in the 8400 block of Greenway Road.

When firefighters arrived at the scene a few minutes later, they found that the fire was coming from the second floor of the building.

Emergency services immediately began search and rescue operations and found a 43-year-old man on the second floor.

According to officials, he was rescued through a window and taken out and brought down a ladder.

The emergency personnel took care of him and took him to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

When the victim arrived at the hospital, he was pronounced dead.

According to officials, a 43-year-old woman and three children were also injured in the fire and taken to a local hospital.

The fire was brought under control at 00:58

Fire inspectors are investigating the cause of the fire.
