Will Ospreay talks about a possible match with Ricochet – PWMania

AEW International Champion Will Ospreay took part in the All In post-show press conference immediately following the show to discuss a number of topics, including a match with Ricochet.

Ospreay said: “I mean, buddy, I do too [want to see it]. But you have to work hard for that, you know what I mean? There’s a long list of people he has to beat before he can challenge the International Champion. But honestly, buddy, it’s been – I think it’s been eight years since that Best of Super Juniors match, and we’ve both gone our separate ways. We’ve both had good performances, but now he’s under this microscope. And maybe, just maybe, I challenged him all those times to see if he had any balls. And he showed up, right? He showed up. So I’d love to see what he’s going to do in AEW. I’m excited and I’m really, really happy for him.”

On his future intention with the title:

“I’m looking forward to the championship because there are so many challenges that I can easily overcome. And again, this championship knows no boundaries. It can be defended anywhere, so I’m open and ready to travel wherever our partnerships are and compete against the best wrestlers in the world.”

How his match against Ricochet changed his career:

“I was under scrutiny, and I don’t think I was prepared for it. Because… I was 23 at the time, and it was my first time being part of a real wrestling company. I was just slaving away on the indies. And it’s not that the indies aren’t real companies, but there’s so much that goes into it. There’s the promotional side of things. And then when that went through the roof, I thought… You either loved it or you hated it. And for me, it was just like, ‘This is a learning experience for me.’ Accepting all of that, that criticism, that love, here I could have done better, here I could have done worse. Accepting that and then learning from other people.”

“One thing I’ll always say is that the Ricochet fight did wonders for me, right? But that’s what we did in PWG, that’s what we did in RevPro. And when it was kind of like, ‘I did that,’ they said, ‘Get in the ring with Shibata.’ And I thought, ‘Oh damn, he’s going to beat the crap out of me!’ And then it was take that fight and fight Shibata. And take that fight and fight Okada. And take that fight and fight Kenny. And take that fight and fight Takeshita, take that fight and fight Danielson, and take that fight and fight Max. [MJF]. I’m constantly evolving. And I’ll never forget that first step, those days when I fought Ricochet and my life just changed from then on.”
