“Ronaldo is superior to Messi”: Al-Nassr manager Stefano Pioli

New Delhi [India]September 21 (ANI): Former AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli has expressed his opinion on the ‘Goat’ (greatest player of all time) debate between Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Argentine sensation Lionel Messi.

Since an eternal rivalry has developed between the two over the last decade, opinions among fans and various football players differ as to which of them, Messi or Ronaldo, is better.

Piolo, who recently took over as coach of Al-Nassr, where Ronaldo plays, chose the Portuguese star over Messi, backing up his decision by claiming that Ronaldo has scored more goals than Messi.

“I think Cristiano Ronaldo is superior to Lionel Messi, he has scored more goals than games,” Pioli said, according to Geo News.

Recently, five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo made history by becoming the first male football player to score 900 goals in his career, achieving the record during Portugal’s match against Croatia in the UEFA Nations League.

The Portuguese superstar wrote his name in history when he scored a goal in the 34th minute against Croatia.

Nuno Mendes delivered a perfect cross that Ronaldo capitalised on from close range, firing the ball past Croatian goalkeeper Livakovic. The 39-year-old’s goal also helped Portugal double their lead and win the game.

In total, Ronaldo has scored 901 goals in 1,238 appearances for club and country. The 39-year-old striker has broken records on and off the pitch.

The Portuguese goal machine has achieved a remarkable feat after reaching the milestone of 1 billion social media followers across all platforms.

Ronaldo has 638 million followers on Instagram, 170 million on Facebook and 113 million on X. The Al-Nassr captain recently launched his YouTube channel and broke the record for the fastest to reach 10 million subscribers.

Ronaldo broke the record by beating Hamster Kombat. Hamster took seven days to reach the 10 million mark, while Ronaldo did it in one day.

His arch-rival Messi has now scored 840 goals in 1,071 appearances for club and country.

Messi was benched after suffering an ankle injury in the Copa America final in July, but last week he made a triumphant return to the pitch after a long injury layoff.

He scored a brace in Inter Miami’s 3-1 win over Philadelphia Union in MLS. (ANI)
