Szczesny greets Juventus fans after his retirement: “My family, my home”

Wojciech Szczesny said goodbye to the Juventus fans on Saturday before a Serie A match against Napoli at the Allianz Stadium: “They made me feel at home.”

Juventus will host Antonio Conte’s Napoli at the Allianz Stadium on Saturday in one of the big games of the 5th round of Serie A.

Before kick-off, fans paid tribute to Szczesny, who terminated his contract in August, just weeks before announcing his retirement.

Before Szczesny gave his speech to the fans, he received a special jersey from Juventus President Gianluca Ferrero.

“Thank you for seven years of love, but especially for the love you have shown me in the last month,” he said.

“I felt so loved and respected, even though I knew I couldn’t repay you with my savings. You made me feel at home. This is my home and this is my family. Thank you!”
