UC Bearcats aim for first Big 12 win of the season against Houston

CINCINNATI – The Bearcats return to Nippert Stadium on Saturday to face the Houston Cougars.

For the Bearcats (2-1), it is the first Big 12 game of the season after they played against Miami (Ohio) University and Towson.

Cincinnati is coming off a 27-16 win over Miami last week, while Houston (1-2) is also on a winning streak, posting a 33-7 win over Rice, the team’s first victory of the season.

Last year, Cincinnati defeated Houston 24-14 on the road to earn the Bearcats’ first Big 12 win in school history. The two teams have also faced off in multiple conferences, with the Bearcats winning four straight games since October 2019.

To repeat history, Cincinnati will need to establish a solid running game against Houston’s defense. UC has averaged over 200 rushing yards per game so far this season, but the Cougars have held their last two opponents, including Oklahoma, to 75 rushing yards.

The Bearcats and Cougars begin at noon at Nippert Stadium.
