The European tennis team around Alexander Zverev is behind again at the Laver Cup in Berlin. Zverev’s Russian teammate Daniil Medvedev lost to the American Frances Tiafoe in the match tiebreak with 6:3, 4:6 and 5:10, leaving his team 2:4 behind. In the evening, Zverev will face Tiafoe’s compatriot Taylor Fritz, against whom he lost in the quarterfinals at the US Open a few weeks ago.

In the team competition, which is based on the Ryder Cup in golf, Team Europe on a world selection. A total of twelve games will be played in the three-day tournament. To win, a team must score 13 points, with games won on the first day counting for one point, on Saturday two points and on Sunday three points. After the opening day, the score was 2:2.
