Wolves 2-6 Chelsea: Noni Madueke’s hat-trick gives Enzo Maresca his first Premier League win

Noni Madueke’s hat-trick gave Chelsea their first Premier League win of the season, defeating Wolves in a thrilling and chaotic encounter.

Chelsea took the lead after 98 seconds when Matheus Cunha inadvertently diverted Cole Palmer’s corner and the unmarked Nicolas Jackson headed in at the far post.

Jackson fired up the already spirited Molineux crowd with his cheers and the Wolves gathered on the field.

Rayan Ait-Nouri’s stunning run set up Cunha and the lively Brazilian equalised with a crisp low shot from inside the box before pointing towards Jackson.

Palmer then restored Chelsea’s lead with a deft, cushioned lob from 27 yards as he spotted Jose Sa wide of his goal.

Shortly before half-time, Wolves equalised for a second time when Jorgen Strand Larsen fired a free kick that was played back across the goal from the edge of the six-yard box into the net.

But with his hat-trick in the 14th minute of the second half, English U21 striker Madueke decided the game.

The three goals were almost identical, with the winger scoring with low shots from inside the box, each time with an assist from Palmer.

Joao Felix rounded off the scoring shortly before the end when he inside-footed the ball high into the net from near the penalty spot after being played out by fellow substitute and former Wolves winger Pedro Neto.
