The tennis elite is visiting Germany. The best players in the world compete at the Laver Cup. You can watch the event live on TV and stream here.

Berlin – After Prague, Chicago, Geneva, Boston, London and Vancouver, the Laver Cup is coming to Germany for the first time! Berlin is hosting the seventh edition of the tennis pros’ show tournament organized by Roger Federer. The match between Team Europe and the rest of the world will take place from Friday to Sunday (20 – 22 September) in the Uber Arena.

Europe has won the invitational tournament in the first four editions, with the world team winning in 2022 and 2023. San Francisco will host the tournament in 2025.

Laver Cup in Germany: What is the format?

There will be twelve games in total, three singles and one doubles each day. The matches will be played in three sets, which will be counted towards the overall ranking depending on the day of the competition: a win on Friday will earn you one point, on Saturday two and on Sunday three. A team needs 13 points to win overall.

Which stars are competing?

German fans can look forward to numerous top players. Germany’s top player Alexander Zverev has a home game, was involved in Team Europe’s four victories and is the record participant in the Laver Cup. Superstar Carlos Alcaraz is also in action for Europe.

Rafael Nadal is not there. The 22-time Grand Slam winner had cancelled his participation. The American Taylor Fritz, who was recently in the final of the US Open, is also competing for the world team. The six players were each nominated by the team captains Björn Borg (Europe) and John McEnroe (World).

What is there to win?

The invitational tournament has now found its place in the tennis calendar. However, world ranking points are not awarded. However, an appearance at the Laver Cup is still lucrative. In addition to an entry fee, each player can look forward to a prize of $250,000. (sid/kk)
