Tennis professional Alexander Zverev missed a victory for Team Europe in his first Laver Cup appearance in front of a home crowd in Berlin.

The Tokyo Olympic champion lost in the doubles alongside Spanish Wimbledon winner Carlos Alcaraz against the American pairing of Ben Shelton and Taylor Fritz 6:7 (5:7), 4:6.

Tsitsipas and Dimitrov win for Team Europe

After the opening day, the score is 2:2. In front of basketball legend Dirk Nowitzki, Norwegian Casper Ruud lost 4:6, 4:6 to Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo at the start of the team competition on Friday (September 20, 2024).

Stefanos Tsitsipas (Greece) then defeated Thanasi Kokkinakis (Australia) 6:1, 6:4, while Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov defeated Alejandro Tabilo from Chile 7:6 (7:4), 7:6 (7:2).

Twelve games in Berlin

To win, a team must score 13 points, with games won counting for one point on the first day, two points on Saturday and three points on Sunday.
