Everything you need to know about Coldplay’s concerts in Ireland

Coldplay will play four shows at Croke Park from the end of August – here’s everything you need to know about the highly anticipated performances.

The band will bring their Music of the Spheres World Tour to the legendary Dublin venue on Thursday 29th August, Friday 30th August, Sunday 1st September and Monday 2nd September.

The English rockers last played a critically acclaimed show at Croke Park in the summer of 2017, so fans are understandably excited to see them bring this legendary, record-breaking tour to Dublin.

Since the band launched their eco-friendly “Music of the Spheres World Tour” in March 2022, they have sold over eight million tickets and received rave reviews from fans and critics.

The concerts were praised for their distinctive musicianship, their stage presence, their exuberant cheerfulness and their precise production.

The tour, which is set to end in November, is also designed to minimise the group’s carbon footprint. A report from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology last year found that Coldplay’s current tour has so far produced 47% fewer CO2e emissions than their previous stadium tour in 2016/17.

Below you will find all the important details about Coldplay’s performances at Croke Park.

Hiking/Cycling

The stadium is just a 30-minute walk or 10-minute bike ride from O’Connell Street in the city centre.

Can I still buy tickets?

No! Tickets for these concerts have long been sold out. Fans can check Ticketmaster for official resale tickets and see if they get lucky.

What to expect

Is this the greatest rock show in the world? Many believe so! Coldplay’s carefully planned concerts are an audiovisual treat. They are divided into four acts so that the band can use three stages spread across the stadium.

Our John Byrne traveled to Amsterdam last summer to see Chris Martin and Co. and was completely overwhelmed by the band’s “multi-coloured musical journey”.

He described Coldplay as “the ultimate stadium band these days” and said they “do everything they can to make their gigs the greatest sing-along set you’ve ever experienced”.

The most important thing is: “Everyone present should feel like they are part of the experience and not just a spectator. You are not here just to watch, you are here to participate.”

Of course their current album Music of the Spheres has the highest representation of songs on the setlist.

Supporting acts

Earlier this year, Coldplay announced American singer-songwriter Maggie Rogers and Irish singer Aby Coulibaly as the opening acts for their Croke Park performances.

Dublin-born Coulibaly said it was the “craziest” message she had ever received and said it was “such an honour to support a band I grew up with, not just once, but four nights in a row”.

Coulibaly will take the stage at 6.30pm, followed by Maggie Rogers at 7.15pm.
