Illinois Valley Symphony Orchestra celebrates 75th season with anniversary concerts – Shaw Local

The Illinois Valley Symphony Orchestra has announced its 75th Diamond Jubilee season. This landmark season will include a series of performances throughout the year showcasing the orchestra’s glorious history.

The inaugural Pops Potpourri concert kicks off the year on Saturday, September 28, at 7 p.m. at the Dr. Mary Margaret Weeg Cultural Center at Illinois Valley Community College. This celebration of orchestral pops features a mix of show tunes, classical, jazz, rock and patriotic music, including crowd favorites such as “Light Cavalry Overture,” “Memory” from Cats and “America the Beautiful.”

The celebration continues with the other four concerts: Ottawa native turned West Coast virtuoso Cory Tiffin, choirs from the IVCC and Ottawa High School, the winners of the upcoming IVSO Concerto Competition, and internationally renowned young violinist Anton Carus will all take the stage this season.

Season tickets and individual tickets are on sale. Full season details and tickets can be purchased at ivso.org.
