KB5043185 Windows 11 24H2 [Manueller Download] 26120.1843

If there is no Insider in the Canary channel this week, then at least there is one in the Dev channel. Today it is KB 5043185. This increases the version number to Windows 11 24H2 26120.1843. With this update, the shared content is displayed in the File Explorer under Start.

This gives you quick access to the files you have shared. “If you’re a business customer signed in with your Microsoft Entra ID account, you can also view files shared with others.” The whole thing looks like this.

Windows Sandbox includes the new Windows Sandbox, which is now being updated via the Microsoft Store. As part of this preview, we are introducing clipboard redirection at runtime, audio/video input control, and the ability to share folders with the host at runtime. You can access these features via the new “…” icon in the top right of the app. Additionally, this preview includes a very early version of command line support (commands may change over time). You can use the ‘wsb.exe -help’ command for more information.

Changes made by KB5043185

  • For new PCs or new user accounts on managed commercial devices (PCs running Windows 11 Enterprise, Education, or Pro signed in with an Entra ID (or domain)), the Microsoft 365 app will be pinned to the taskbar to provide quick access to Copilot for Microsoft 365. Existing commercial PCs that still have the previous Copilot in Windows experience will see that replaced by the Copilot app pinned to their taskbar.
  • Lock screen We updated the lock screen so that media controls now appear at the bottom center of the lock screen when media is playing.
  • Start menu Right-clicking applications pinned to the Start menu displays jump lists for applications that have them, such as PowerPoint.
  • Based on feedback, we’ve made some updates to the new Account Manager in the Start menu so that the option to sign out is immediately visible and we’ve added a list of signed in users under “…” so that switching accounts is faster.
  • Taskbar and system tray We’re trying out a simplified taskbar that highlights the date and time in a shortened form and shows the bell icon for notifications depending on the DND status. Without the bell icon for notifications, you can access your notifications by clicking the date and time in Notification Center. You can go back to the long form of the date/time and bell icon by toggling the values in Settings > Date & Time under “Show time and day in taskbar” and Settings > System > Notifications under “Notifications”. These settings are also accessible from the context menu that appears when you right-click the clock/bell icon in the taskbar.
  • Search in the taskbar We’re starting by introducing the ability to share local files directly from the search results displayed in the search box on the taskbar.
  • input We’ve updated Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Touch to have a new Touchscreen edge gestures section where you can choose to disable the left or right screen edge touch gesture.
  • Notifications If desired, there is now an option to turn off suggestions for disabling notifications from specific apps. You can now press “…” within the notification to disable the notification, as you can with other notifications, or you can go to the list of notification senders in Settings > System > Notifications and disable it from there (called “Notification suggestions” in the list). Note: This entry only appears in the sender list if you have received a notification.
  • Settings: In response to feedback, we have added a Detach Virtual Hard Disk (VHD/`VHDx) button to Settings, which makes it much easier to detach your VHD/VHDx when needed. This option is available under Settings > System > Storage > Disks & Volumes in the Properties of your VHD/VHDx.
  • The Delivery Optimization settings page at Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Delivery Optimization has been redesigned to reflect Windows 11 design principles.

  • We can confirm that the Recall feature no longer appears as an option under the “Turn Windows features on or off” dialog in the Windows Control Panel.
