Oktoberfest 2024: Less beer for visitors? Fear at the start of the Wiesn

For many it is THE highlight of the year, while for others it is nothing short of the biggest folk festival in the world: the Oktoberfest. This year it takes place from September 21st to October 6th. As always, of course, on the Theresienwiese in Munich.

But this year everything could be different! Visitors are already worried that there won’t be enough beer. That would of course be fatal. But is there any truth to this fear?

Oktoberfest 2024: Not enough beer? Visitors fear the worst

The famous folk festival took place for the first time in 1810. The 2024 Oktoberfest will be the 189th edition. The Bavarian capital attracts several million visitors from all over the world every year. But this year it could be in for a nasty surprise. Namely when there is less beer – for the same money. Because it has now been announced that there will be new mugs this year. And they have a possible disadvantage compared to their predecessors, reports “t-online”.

Here the calibration line has been placed further down. This is the mark at which the fill level is measured. Does that mean that there is less beer in the mug and you still pay the same for it? That would be a huge upset! But no, don’t worry. Although the calibration line is correct, the beer mugs at the Oktoberfest have also been made larger. The content and price are also the same again. Phew, lucky!
