The story covers a wide range of topics, including why she didn’t retire, what it’s like filming with new co-host Ryan Seacrest, how many dresses she wore on the show, and how she got that iconic role in the first place.

You can read the entire interview here. Here are some notable quotes:

On her resignation:
“Everyone decides for themselves when they retire, and that was [Pat’s] Decision. I wasn’t ready to retire, so I’m going to keep going. I like going to work. I like watching people win. I like making a difference in people’s lives.”

About working with Ryan Seacrest:
“It was obviously very different after working with someone for 41 years. But I don’t compare the two. For me it’s just a new era.”

How she brings her personality to the show:
“The only reason I wanted to be on TV since I was a little girl was because I wanted to make people feel good – try to show them kindness, be a good person and a good role model. I believe I can do that by playing myself on TV. I don’t play a role. I am who I am, so let me share it with you.”

About her audition for “Wheel of Fortune”
“I was so nervous when I auditioned. I just thought: There’s no way I’m getting this job. My knees were shaking. My mouth was shaking. I just could hardly do it. I wanted the job so badly.”

Regarding the question of whether she has a tattoo (her daughter is a tattoo artist):
“Not yet, but I’m seriously thinking about getting a little heart tattooed here on my wrist so I can look at it every day and have a piece of her with me.”

On her presence on the show:
“My role on the puzzle board has changed. When I started, I had to rotate each letter manually. Now the board is controlled by a laser. It’s like a flat screen. And when I touch the letter, the laser tracks my movement. That’s crazy, isn’t it?”

“But I’m telling you now. Don’t say it. They need me!”

About her fashion:
“I probably try on 40 or 50 dresses every two weeks. So out of the 8,000 dresses I’ve worn, I’ve tried on about 100,000. They’re all so pretty, but for me, this is a job. So when I’m at home, I just put on a comfortable tracksuit and I’m happy.”
