2024 Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Rookie QB Picks: Predictions for Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye

2024 Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Rookie QB Picks: Predictions for Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye

Six quarterbacks were selected in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, and while most of them will be rookies, history has proven that they shouldn’t be considered top players in the 2024 fantasy football rankings. Caleb Williams (Bears), Jayden Daniels (Commanders), Drake Maye (Patriots), Michael Penix Jr. (Falcons), JJ McCarthy (Vikings) and Bo Nix (Broncos) were all drafted in the first round, but each player has different 2024 fantasy football projections. Williams, Daniels and Nix will likely start in Week 1, while McCarthy (knee) is out for the rest of the year and Maye and Penix will begin the season as backups.

In 2023, CJ Stroud took the NFL by storm as a rookie and developed into a true top-tier fantasy football quarterback. Will any of the rookie quarterbacks have similar success in fantasy football in 2024? If you’re looking for 2024 fantasy football tips, be sure to check out the 2024 fantasy football cheat sheets from the proven computer model at SportsLine.

Last year, the model correctly predicted that Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs would be worth significantly more than expected in his rookie season. The result: Gibbs ran for 945 yards and 10 touchdowns and caught 52 passes for 316 yards and a touchdown. Gibbs was taken in the middle of the fourth round on average, but finished the season as one of the top 10 running backs in the CBS Sports PPR leagues.

The same model has proven itself to be effective in providing fantasy football picks. It identified AJ Brown as a surprise pick in 2020 and predicted Jonathan Taylor’s monstrous 2021 season. Additionally, it has predicted previous fantasy football surprise picks like Derrick Henry in 2019, Christian McCaffrey and Alvin Kamara in 2018, and Davante Adams in 2017. Anyone who has bet on players like these has had a good run at their championship titles.

The model is developed by the same people who create the projections for all three major fantasy sites, and it beat the human experts last season when there was still a big difference in the rankings. The projections are updated multiple times a day, so you’ll always get the best fantasy football tips.

Now SportsLine has simulated the entire NFL season 10,000 times and released its latest 2024 fantasy football cheat sheets and draft picks, as well as the best rookie picks for fantasy QBs. Head to SportsLine now to see them.

Caleb Williams 2024 Fantasy Football Projection

The model has set its 2024 fantasy football projection for Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams. The No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft has flashed the explosiveness and playmaking ability that made him one of the most hyped quarterback prospects to enter the NFL in the last decade during limited preseason playing time. Williams will not play in the Bears’ final preseason game, but he showed enough promise in his two appearances to be considered the betting favorite for this year’s NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award.

Williams will have to get used to the cold weather that comes with a career in Chicago. He spent most of his college career in warm climates and now has to deal with wind and sub-freezing temperatures on a regular basis. Williams currently has an ADP of 103.6 and is taken off the board in the ninth round on average in CBS Sports fantasy football drafts. You can find the full fantasy football QB rankings here.

2024 Jayden Daniels fantasy football projection

The model also released its projection for Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. The reigning Heisman Trophy winner was the second pick in the 2024 NFL Draft after playing five stellar seasons at Arizona State and LSU. Last season, he set the FBS record for single-season passer rating with the Tigers and finished his college career as the only player in FBS history to have 12,000 passing yards and 3,000 rushing yards.

Daniels’ experience in the run game will be tested in his first season at the NFL level, as the Commanders have a thin receiver group. He has the advantage of working with offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, who worked with Patrick Mahomes at the college level and Kyler Murray with the Arizona Cardinals. His best opponent further down the field, however, is Terry McLaurin, and it’s questionable how productive Daniels will be after working with elite receivers Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr. at LSU. Here’s where each quarterback ranks.

2024 Drake Maye fantasy football projection

The model also released its ranking for Patriots rookie quarterback Drake Maye. While Daniels and Williams are considered safe favorites in most 2024 fantasy football drafts, owners are waiting for more information on the 3rd overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft. Maye is battling with Jacoby Brissett and fellow rookie Joe Milton for the starting spot in Week 1 for the Patriots.

Even if Maye doesn’t start the opening game against the Bengals, he could still be worth a late draft pick. The Patriots are expected to struggle this season and could fall behind. Maye threw for over 8,000 yards in just two full seasons at UNC, so the potential is interesting for players looking for 2024 fantasy football insider picks.
