Maggie Haberman says these DNC jabs really got under Trump’s skin

CNN’s Wolf Blitzer asked Haberman, who also works as a political analyst for the network, how Trump reacted to the jibe on Friday.

“The Obamas’ two speeches got under his skin,” Haberman said, referring to statements by Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama.

Trump has been “very reactive” to the Obamas, Haberman added, ever since he began spreading false claims in the early 2010s that his predecessor was born in Kenya.

“I think you’re going to see more of this,” she predicted.

Haberman told Blitzer that she noticed that the DNC speakers were “quite focused” in their message about Trump.

“We’ve heard time and time again from the Obamas, from the vice president and from others, that he’s a rich guy who takes care of his rich friends,” she said.

She continued: “But you also saw comments that I think were intended to provoke Trump. That was one of them. The more self-destructive Trump is, the better the Democrats like it.”
