In his first season with LIV Golf, Jon Rahm proved to be the cream of the crop. With his victory at LIV Golf Chicago, the Spaniard won the individual race of the season, picked up his second trophy on tour and edged out Joaquin Niemann for the top spot. But that was last week. This week, the focus turns to their teams as the LIV Golf Dallas Team Championship marks the 14th and final event of the league’s third season.

Despite his strong play all year, Rahm and his Legion XIII teammates look up to Bryson DeChambeau and his Crushers, who serve as the defending LIV Golf champions. Both the Crushers and Legion XIII earned a bye in the quarterfinals — as did all-Australian team Ripper GC — ahead of a three-day event filled with singles, foursomes, stroke play and a ton of money.

Brooks Koepka’s Smash would have received a bye in any other year, but with the introduction of a new team (Legion XIII), Smash will advance to the quarterfinals as the top seed. Smash will vie with the teams seeded 5th through 13th for a spot in Saturday’s semifinals.

Koepka is spoiled for choice as he is the first to choose which team he wants to play for in the quarter-finals. Niemann, Sergio Garcia, Louis Oosthuizen and Martin Kaymer, as the higher-seeded players, then choose the pairings for their respective teams.

In the past two seasons, the captains of each team competed against each other in a one-on-one match, but that has changed this year as teams are free to choose where to place their players. The remaining three members of each team are split between another one-on-one match and a four-on-one match. The team that scores two points advances to the next day.

The final day of competition will see standard stroke play, with all 13 teams competing in a three-tier system. Each player’s score counts for their team, with the team with the lowest combined score of the top four teams crowned the third ever LIV Golf Team Champions.
