Aides of former President Donald Trump are reportedly concerned that he is playing too much golf and campaigning too little.

But when his family visited his golf course in Bedminster, New Jersey, in August, the president seemed to prefer playing on the course. He appeared bored at a press conference at the course earlier this month and did not seem too pleased to participate in a fundraiser with donor Miriam Adelson. The Washington Post reports.

Former employees told The publisher that Trump prefers a less hectic schedule during his family’s time in Bedminster, when he spends most of his time on the golf course. However, aides who wished to remain anonymous also told the newspaper that they did not want the former president to sit at home, watch the Democratic National Convention and get angry.

At the time, his running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance, said he regretted that “a lot of people” had “misconstrued” his comments about the “childless cat ladies” in 2021.

In an interview with NBC News broadcast on Sunday, he said he made “a joke” “to make a really factual point.”

“This country has become too hostile to families,” he added. “A house is too expensive. Food is too expensive.”

Watch out, JD Vance, these are the cities with the most childless cat ladies

Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance should perhaps stop insulting childless cat ladies.

Pittsburgh – in the crucial swing state of Pennsylvania, where Trump is losing his lead – is the city with the most single women who own cats, according to an analysis by . The Independent.

In a 2021 interview, Vance complained that the country was being run by “a bunch of childless cat ladies” – including Kamala Harris – “who are unhappy with their own lives and the choices they’ve made and therefore want to make the rest of the country unhappy too.”

This quote caught up with him after Donald Trump nominated him as his vice presidential running mate, and the saying quickly went viral.

Vance refuses to say whether Trump’s plans to expel millions of migrants would mean separating families

Vance sat down for an extensive interview with NBC’s Kristen Welker. Meet the press and answered questions about one of Donald Trump’s key campaign promises for 2024: conducting what his campaign describes as “the largest deportation operation in American history.” In reality, it would be a massive operation that would require significant federal resources and cooperation from states and could have serious implications for communities across the country.

But when Welker asked him a question to which the answer seemed obvious – whether the concept of separating families, including young children, from their parents would be revived in a second Trump term – Vance could not answer the question.

Findings from the AP’s review of Tim Walz’s descriptions of his military service

Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz served in the National Guard for 24 years, rose through the ranks and was honorably discharged. This career is considered one of his political strengths. Republicans are trying to turn it into a weakness.

They have echoed criticism from former National Guardsmen who have denounced Minnesota Governor Walz for leaving the military in 2005 to run for Congress shortly before his unit was deployed to Iraq and for exaggerating his rank after leaving the service. They have also pointed to a comment by Walz that implied he had been deployed in combat when he had not.

Walz’s departure from the Minnesota National Guard gave critics an opportunity to pounce on his military career

John Kolb, a retired colonel in the Minnesota National Guard, knew Tim Walz as a “superb leader” who skillfully led the crews of his field artillery battalion. But Kolb was stunned by what he saw when Walz left the military and entered politics.

Walz resigned from the National Guard in 2005 to run for Congress, shortly before his unit was ordered to mobilize for the Iraq War. During the campaign, Walz exaggerated the rank he held at the time of his retirement from the service.

“This is not the behavior I would expect from a high-ranking noncommissioned officer,” Kolb said in an interview.

Vance: Trump would veto a national abortion ban – but critics are not convinced

But the Republican vice presidential candidate must face reality: He himself has supported such plans in the past, and other ways to pass such a ban are also being closely watched by conservatives as he and Trump try to defend themselves on the issue of reproductive rights.
