Ted Lasso According to reports, the fourth season has been given the green light.

Since the conclusion of the third season last year, discussions have been ongoing about a revival of the hit sports comedy-drama series on Apple TV+, and fans are clamoring for confirmation.

According to US media reports, Warner Bros Television has taken over the options for the three original actors Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein and Jeremy Swift.

Waddingham plays AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Walton in the series, while Goldstein plays hotheaded assistant coach Roy Kent. Swift is the mild-mannered head of football operations and father of five, Leslie Higgins.

The first season immediately garnered praise from fans for its uplifting tone and provided comfort to millions of viewers at the height of the pandemic in August 2020.

Variety reports that co-developer and star of the show, Jason Sudeikis, is believed to be involved “in some capacity” as an executive producer.

The release also states that Waddingham, Goldstein and Swift’s options were announced first because they are members of UK Equity and have different contracts than the US lineup of Sag-Aftra, which will enter negotiations next.

Ted Lasso received critical acclaim and numerous awards, including multiple Emmys and two consecutive Golden Globes for Best Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy for Sudeikis. He was also nominated for his performance in the third season.

“Given the structure of the series – one football season per television season – there are limits to how much Ted Lasso can develop from year to year, even if Ted himself becomes more of a tragic than a comic figure,” The Independent’s four-star review of the third season was.

“It still has that cheesy canned charm, but now we see the repressed sadness behind Ted’s sickly politeness. What started as a fish-out-of-water sitcom has cleverly evolved into something more engaging.”

In an interview in April, Waddingham talked about the end of the third season and revealed how Sudeikis came to cast her in the series.

He apparently told her: “I saw Rebecca first. And then I had to meet Hannah,” she recalled to Sunday today Moderator Willie Geist.

“It really touched me when I heard him say that because he doesn’t give compliments lightly… It was just brilliant,” Waddingham added.
