BJP MP Munirathna arrested for rape and sexual harassment – ​​The Week

Bengaluru (Karnataka), Sep 20 (PTI) – BJP MP N Munirathna was arrested on Friday in connection with a case of rape, sexual harassment and criminal intimidation filed against him, police said.
Besides him, six other people were arrested in the case after a 40-year-old woman filed a complaint that the incident took place at a private resort under the jurisdiction of Kaggalipura police station, it said.
Munirathna’s arrest came a day after a special court for people’s representatives granted conditional bail to the lawmaker, who was arrested on various charges, including using caste-based slurs.
The court, after hearing the arguments on his bail application, had allowed his application on condition that he furnish a security deposit of Rs 200,000 and two sureties and issued specific directions restraining him from tampering with evidence or obstructing the investigation.
The 60-year-old was arrested soon after his release from Parappana Agrahara Jail, where he was held for three days in connection with an SC/ST atrocity case.
