NEET UG 2024 exam papers leaked: CBI names 6 accused in second chargesheet

The Central Bureau of Investigation has filed a second chargesheet against six accused before the Special Court for CBI Cases in Patna in connection with the theft of the NEET UG 2024 examination papers.

According to an official press release, the second chargesheet names six people in the leaked NEET UG 2024 question paper case:

1. Baldev Kumar aka Chintu.

3. Dr. Ahsanul Haque (Principal of Oasis School, Hazaribagh and Municipal Coordinator for Hazaribagh).

4. Md. Imtiyaz Alam (Deputy Principal of Oasis School and Head of School Management).

5. Jamaluddin alias Jamal (reporter for a newspaper in Hazaribagh).

What did the investigation reveal?

Investigations have revealed that Dr. Ahsanul Haque, Principal of Oasis School, in his capacity as City Coordinator of Hazaribagh for NEET UG Examination 2024 along with Md. Imtiyaz Alam, Vice Principal of the same school and Centre Superintendent for NEET UG Examination 2024, conspired with other accused to steal the NEET UG examination questions, the press release said.

The charges were brought under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 120-B (criminal conspiracy), Section 109 (abetment), Section 409 (criminal breach of trust), Section 420 (cheating), Section 380 (theft), Section 201 (disappearance of evidence) and Section 411 (dishonest receiving stolen goods).

In addition, substantive charges under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018) have been framed against the Principal of Oasis School, who was appointed as City Coordinator, and the Deputy Principal, who was appointed as Centre Superintendent by the NTA, for conducting the NEET UG-2024 examination.

Earlier, the CBI had filed the first chargesheet against 13 accused on August 1, 2024.

So far, 48 people have been arrested in connection with this NEET paper leak case. The CBI has also identified the beneficiaries of this paper leak and has shared their details with the National Testing Agency so that it can take necessary action.

The investigation into the remaining arrested defendants as well as further investigations into other aspects are continuing, the press release said.
