watchOS 11 has been available since the beginning of the week and brings with it some new features related to fitness and health. New watch faces are also available. However, the update means the end of four old watch faces.

Applepage reported on the removal of the Siri watch face. The significantly improved Smart Stacks, which are displayed under each watch face and now also contain Live Activities, make the watch face outdated. As it has now emerged, Apple has removed three more watch faces.

Chronograph, Explorer and dial missing

“Chronograph” is one of the first watch faces ever. With an integrated stopwatch and four difficulties, it was quite popular, but existed for a long time alongside its successor “Chronograph Pro”. That is now over, Chronograph is retiring with watchOS 11.

This also applies to “Explorer”. The watch face debuted with the Apple Watch Series 3. The first LTE version of the watch showed the cellular connection in the form of green signal dots on the Explorer face by default. That’s why the watch face was exclusively available on LTE watches, at least until watchOS 11. Anyone who wants to see the cellular connection permanently can now do so using a separate complication.

watchOS 11 also removes the “numbers” watch face. This featured analog hands for seconds, minutes and hours. The current hour could be displayed in different fonts on an otherwise uniform background. This moved around the clock as the day progressed, and a complication could also be added.

The reasons for the removal can only be speculated – at least in part. This is currently happening in the “Apple Watch” subreddit, where some users are quite disappointed. Are you mourning the loss of the watch faces? Let us know in the comments.
