Unusual match for Randy Orton announced

Unusual match for Randy Orton announced

Randy Orton won’t miss WWE NXT in his hometown of St. Louis, Missouri. In fact, he even planned it!

The background: For the NXT channel change (from the USA Network to the CW), WWE has scheduled two shows outside of the familiar Performance Center. First, on October 1, it goes to Chicago (Illinois), then a week later to St. Louis.

Randy Orton competed in his first WWE NXT match since 2013

On Tuesday, the SmackDown superstar himself announced that he would even have a match at the show.

Orton’s opponent is a spectacular young talent: Je’Von Evans, known for his wild flying moves. However, the 20-year-old should be wary of an RKO out of nowhere.

Fun fact: For Randy Orton, this will be the first second NXT match of his career. The 44-year-old last competed for the third WWE brand on February 21, 2013, and won against Damien Sandow.

Hey Je’Von – Wanna know who your opponent is? See you October 8th in St. Louis, boy #wwenxt

Ticket sales in St. Louis did not satisfy WWE officials

NXT recently suffered a setback for the St. Louis event. The show was moved from the large Enterprise Center to a much smaller location (“The District” in Chesterfield, a city in the greater St. Louis area). The reason: low ticket sales! At least the hall in Chesterfield (which has space for around 3,000 people) is expected to be sold out on October 8th.

In addition to the Orton-Evans match, Grayson Waller and Austin Theory will challenge reigning NXT Tag Team Champions Nathan Frazer & Axiom that evening.

Rapper Sexyy Red is the guest star.

Before that, however, WWE is already planning a big program for the NXT show on October 1st. You can find out more in the NXT report, which you can find here:
