Justin Timberlake: Videos of his arrest remain under wraps

The bodycam recordings taken in connection with the arrest of Justin Timberlake (43) for alleged drunk driving will not be made public. The parties involved came to this agreement. This is reported by the US portal “TMZ”, which refers to information from the district attorney’s office in Suffolk County, New York, where the arrest took place in June.

Justin Timberlake got off with a lighter sentence

“TMZ” had made its own statements in response to a request to access public records. Since this was not granted, no one except the prosecutor and Timberlake’s lawyers still has access to them. The singer received a comparatively lenient sentence. He pleaded guilty last Friday (July 13) in Sag Harbor to driving under the influence of alcohol. Timberlake was originally accused of drunk driving. This was reportedly reduced due to a plea deal. A conviction for drunk driving would have resulted in a prison sentence.

According to consistent media reports, a judge sentenced the musician to 25 hours of community service and a fine of 500 US dollars (around 448 euros) after a deal. The verdict also included a public statement that Timberlake had to make as part of the deal. In this article, he said after the court hearing that he tries to set “very high standards” for himself. However, that was not the case this time. The musician appealed to all drivers not to drive, even after drinking alcohol.

Driving license revoked for 90 days

In addition to the fine and community service, Timberlake is not allowed to drive a car in New York State for 90 days, US media reports. Timberlake’s state driver’s license had already been revoked at a hearing on August 2.

Timberlake had to face these consequences after he was stopped by the police in Sag Harbor in June and briefly detained. The police said in a statement that he had ignored a stop sign and was unable to stay in his lane. The singer was also unsteady on his feet and spoke slowly. (paf/spot)
