Harris hesitates as joy gives way to reality

Nearly two months after President Joe Biden abandoned his re-election effort and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris, the public no longer believes the media-fueled euphoria for her, and the campaign is on hold.

In the latest Rasmussen Reports poll, released to Secrets on Thursday, the head-to-head race is exactly where it was before the debate between Harris and former President Donald Trump last week.

Trump leads 49 percent to 47 percent, and other polls show him ahead in swing states.

“This is our first poll that fully reflects the impact of the televised debate between the two candidates on September 10. There has been no significant change since last week, when Trump had the same 49 percent to 47 percent lead over Harris,” the poll analysis said.

The biggest change since the debate, said Rasmussen, is Harris’ gain among independent voters. “Among voters who do not belong to either major party, Trump gets 49 percent while Harris gets 45 percent. In last week’s poll, Trump was ahead by 12 percentage points among independent voters,” the analysis says.

The media has tried to support Harris, who has historically given a low number of interviews for a presidential candidate. The stagnant poll numbers suggest that voters have caught on and are now expecting more criticism from the candidate.

The extensive poll of 1,855 likely Rasmussen voters confirms others that the race is close, if not tied. New York Times According to a poll released Thursday, the race is tied at 47%.

Rasmussen pollster Mark Mitchell recently began releasing overnight results for the 2024 horse race, and Trump is trending ahead of Harris, although the numbers fluctuate widely.

For example, Trump was ahead of Harris 52% to 44% in his results on Wednesday. To ensure accuracy, he takes several days and averages the results before releasing a weekly campaign update on Thursdays.
