Rumored Switch 2 leak looks very similar to the Switch

A new day on the Internet, a new series of obvious leaks for the Nintendo Switch 2 – or whatever Nintendo will call it. These apparent leaks, which, it should be noted, have not been confirmed and may well be fake, appear to be a bit more substantial than previous “leaks” and include actual photos of the upcoming console’s supposedly real hardware.

The photos first appeared on Chinese social media before quickly spreading to Reddit, Resetera, and then basically the entire internet. Alongside some renderings, there are photos of what appear to be real, physical hardware, including Joy-Cons and a circuit board.

Honestly, they don’t really give us much to work with, if they’re even real, but the Joy-Cons in the photos appear to have magnetic attachments, rather than the rails used on the original Switch, which has been rumored in the past. If the renders are to be believed, the Switch 2 will feature two USB-C ports, one on the top and one on the bottom for docking, and will be slightly larger than the original Switch, with a screen measuring around 8 inches diagonally.

Although no one can confirm the authenticity of these photos, VGC claims there is a source who hasn’t seen the Switch 2 but is allegedly briefed on Nintendo’s plans. They claim the images “are consistent with what the company promised its partners in terms of design.” This is understandable, as the images more or less just show a larger Switch, which is about what everyone expected.

We know that the The successor to the Nintendo Switch will be revealed before April 2025as was announced earlier this year, but we do not know exactly when. In recent months there have been many rumors on this subject, some pointing out that the joint partner showcase from last month and the Indie World presentation as evidence that Nintendo is clearing the field for an announcement this month. That doesn’t seem to have worked out, although there’s still a week left in which it could happen – we’ll have to wait and see.
