  • The mysterious enigma surrounding Camila Giorgi moved Italian sports newspapers a few months ago.
  • The 32-year-old ended her tennis career and was subsequently accused of several criminal offenses. Eventually, she could no longer be found in Italy.
  • Now Giorgi’s lawyer sheds light on the matter and says: “She did not run away.”

The Italian Camila Giorgi quietly ended her tennis career at the beginning of May. She then made a lot of negative headlines. In her home country, Giorgi was wanted on suspicion of tax evasion. The 32-year-old was also accused of clearing out a rented villa and falsifying her vaccination certificate. The former number 26 in the world had disappeared.

Now the mysterious riddle surrounding the tennis player has been solved. Her lawyer Edmondo Tomaselli clarified to the newspaper “Corriere del Veneto”: “Camila Giorgi is in Rome. In recent months she has been away for professional reasons. In short, she has by no means run away, as some claim.”

The former tennis star recently presented his own fashion brand “Giomila” on Instagram. Giorgi “spent some time in the United States, then returned to Italy and also pursued some work projects here,” explains the lawyer.

It is not true that a large part of the family went into hiding with Giorgi, as Italian media reported. Nevertheless, she will have to answer to the court in November. The public prosecutor’s office in Vicenza accuses her and other people from Giorgi’s circle of various offenses.
