Montlingen reacted to the result crisis with a 7-1 victory against Ems

“It was a very strong reaction to the rather mixed performances in the last two or three weeks,” said FCM President Dominik Sieber. He did not want to speak of a crisis, but things had not been “rosy” recently.

This was also due to the fact that Montlingen was struggling with injury concerns. Because these primarily affected the central midfield, the engine stalled. Against Ems, coach Besart Shoshi took the risk of fielding players who were not 100 percent fit – such as Stefano D’Amico, who has not trained much, or Nando Lüchinger, who was also injured until recently.

“This measure has absolutely paid off. “After 13 minutes we were already leading 3-0,” says Sieber. The goals were scored by Elton Aliji, Fabio Wörnhard and Volkan Akyildiz. The latter scored his personal hat trick with this goal: he made it 4-0 in the 22nd minute and 5-0 in the 37th. And the fans at the Kolbenstein rubbed their eyes in amazement when they saw how well their team could play.

When a team wins by as much a margin as Montlingen did on Wednesday, it is often tempting to attribute this to a weak opponent. “Ems was frighteningly weak, otherwise the Graubünden team is really unpleasant and doesn’t let itself be slaughtered,” said Sieber. But an opponent is only as strong as you allow yourself to be – and FCM left absolutely nothing to chance. Thanks to further goals from Endrit Leka and Stefano D’Amico, the final score was 7:1. “It could have been even higher,” said Sieber. And: “It can continue like this on Sunday in the derby in Au.”
