Dodgers notes: Mookie Betts at 2B, Miguel Rojas out of lineup

The Dodgers’ lineup against the Marlins on Wednesday looked a little different than most, with a few notable features.

Mookie Betts returns to second base, facing left-hander Ryan Weathers, his first start at the position since May 29 and his first start in the infield since returning from the injured list in August.

Betts’ first 32 starts after returning were in right field, where he played every inning except for one at second base in the end of the Aug. 14 game at Milwaukee. Betts has also started 61 games at shortstop this season, and Wednesday will be his 12th start at second base.

Miguel Rojas was originally on the roster but was cut. Instead, Edman was moved from center field to shortstop and Andy Pages will play center field.

Betts at second base in place of Gavin Lux allowed for a lineup of seven right-handers (including switch-hitter Tommy Edman) against the left-handed Weathers and left-handed hitters Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman. Chris Taylor was used in left field, Teoscar Hernández moved to right field and Kiké Hernández is at third base in place of Max Muncy.

Lux has hit 7-for-44 against left-handed pitchers this season with a .411 OPS and a wRC+ of 22. Muncy has hit 9-for-59 against left-handed pitchers with five home runs and two doubles with a .722 OPS and a wRC+ of 102. Since returning from the injured list in August, Muncy has hit just 3-for-22 (.136) against left-handed pitchers, though all three hits have been home runs.
