Preston woman living in social housing has moved into a warm, dry home after a long battle with damp and mould

Preston woman living in social housing has moved into a warm, dry home after a long battle with damp and mould

Donna has since spent two weeks at the Travelodge on New Hall Lane and has now temporarily moved to another building – although she would like to stay there.

Donna’s previous CGA apartment

She said a viable action plan was only implemented after she had Blog Preston.

She said: “While I was packing, water was still coming into the building. One day we gave up because it was so bad.

“The hotel was fine and the people at CGA were great. Lisa took care of everything and was always answering the phone and helping with questions.

“The old building is still empty and waiting for work to start. The new building is fantastic. It is bright, warm and dry and you already feel at home.”

Donna says she has the option to stay in the transitional accommodation permanently and, almost a year after she first reported problems to the CGA, she feels she now has a suitable place to live.

She said: “I would like to thank Blog Preston for all their help in this situation. I think I would still be asking for leaks in the old building to be fixed if I hadn’t spoken to them.

“They were very compassionate about my concerns and asked questions.

“Everyone has the right to be treated well and anyone who rents somewhere deserves a warm, dry home.”

Louise Mattinson, Director of Customers and Communities at CGA, said: “We are delighted to hear that Donna has settled in well in the temporary accommodation we have arranged for the duration of the repair work on her property.

Donna’s well-being has always been our top priority and by providing temporary accommodation we were able to efficiently carry out the necessary repairs while ensuring Donna had a safe and comfortable place to stay.

“We thank Donna for her patience and cooperation throughout the process and will
continue to support them.”
