Thalia celebrates Manga Day 2024

Thalia celebrates Manga Day 2024

On Saturday, September 21st, Thalia will be celebrating Manga Day 2024 throughout Austria.

On this day, Thalia offers numerous events and activities to honor manga culture. Manga fans can get free samples of selected titles in the bookstores and can take part in exciting events. With this initiative, Thalia wants to make the diversity and fascination of manga culture tangible and further promote its growing importance in Austria.

Manga Day is a cross-border event format in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg, organized by eleven publishing houses. On this day, free special editions of manga are distributed in numerous bookstores and comic shops.

Mangas are also enjoying growing popularity in Austria. Thalia has continuously expanded its position as one of the leading providers in this segment. “The range has proven to be a growing market for us.” “By taking part in the popular Manga Day, we are also offering our customers the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of manga and experience it together with us,” says Thalia Managing Director Andrea Heumann.

Thalia is supporting Manga Day with numerous activities. Free reading samples of selected manga are being distributed in all 48 bookstores across Austria. These are a mix of established series and current new releases. Whether it’s fantasy, romance, mystery or drawing instructions: there’s something for every manga fan. In addition, special events are being held in selected bookstores in cooperation with Carlsen Verlag.

For example, at the locations in Graz Murpark, Linz Landstraße, Pasching PlusCity, Salzburg Europark, St. Pölten, Vösendorf Westfield SCS, Vienna Mitte/W3, Vienna Mariahilfer Straße and Vienna Donauzentrum there is a Dragonball rally in which customers can find seven hidden Dragonball cards in the manga department. Successful participants receive an exclusive Dragonball poster as a prize.

“The targeted expansion of the product range and the variety that we offer both in bookstores and online makes us the first port of call for all manga fans,” says Heumann.

In addition, Thalia is offering a 20 percent discount on foreign language manga titles in the online shop on this day and a 20 percent discount on manga merchandise in the bookstores from September 19 to 22. In addition, some bookstores will have employees in cosplay costumes, which will make the day particularly colorful.
