Windows 11 24H2: The launch date has been set

Feature update

Windows 11 24H2 is on the way: Interested parties will be able to access the major update with a focus on AI functions in the next patch cycle.

For months, Microsoft has been working on the 24H2 update for Windows 11 PCs that do not fall under the “Copilot Plus” banner. While the first laptops were able to access the new, AI-focused “Moments 5” update last June, Windows 11 24H2 is still in preview for desktop computers. But that should change in a few weeks, as Microsoft explains in a blog post about the improved data protection of the Copilot AI.

Accordingly, changes in terms of the protection functions are to be made at the same time as an optional update that will be made available on September 24, 2024. The optional patch is to be the one that brings with it the 24H2 update. During the October Patch Day, which is scheduled to take place on October 8, 2024, Moments 5 will then be released for “all supported versions of Windows 11”.

However, the requirements for Windows 11 24H2 remain unchanged: processors that lack either the POPCNT instruction or the SSE 4.2 instruction set are still excluded. Conversely, the same system requirements apply as for regular Windows 11. We show all the new features that the 24H2 update for Windows 11 brings in the linked article.
