Hebridean Cruises unveils Scotland 2025 itinerary

The operator said seats on the 10-day cruise, titled “In Search of Giants,” sold out within 10 minutes of its online release.

The area is an important migration corridor for large baleen whales and sperm whales and the excursion is led by expert guide Dr Conor Ryan, who has carried out important studies on whale ecology and the history of whaling in Scotland.

On this year’s inaugural expedition in August, the team conducted 17 whale sightings and recorded sightings of 35 pods of common dolphins, 23 pods of harbor porpoises and 10 minke whales, as well as four individual encounters with humpback whales and three fin whales.

In the 19th century, the area was a hunting ground for whalers, who nearly wiped out many large whale species.

Since whaling was banned, their numbers have slowly recovered.

Hebrides Cruises, Scotland’s leading operator of luxury small-group wildlife cruises on the west coast, said there had been “unprecedented demand” for its 2025 itineraries.

The company has released its calendar early to ensure guests have the opportunity to plan their next adventure exploring the stunning seascapes of the Hebrides.

Hebrides Cruises offers a variety of cruises, including a popular three-day ‘Hebrides Mini Magical Cruise’ aboard the newest member of the company’s fleet, the luxury superyacht Lucy Mary.

On this cruise, guests have the opportunity to enjoy the tranquil beauty of sea bays, castles and lighthouses and observe numerous wildlife along the way.

Departing from Oban, this cruise offers a taste of adventure with options for shore excursions, walks, beach barbecues and swimming trips, “complemented by the very finest Scottish hospitality and cuisine”.

This also includes visits to Mull, Iona, Staffa and the Treshnish Isles.

“As demand for unique and immersive small-scale wildlife exploration cruises increases, we are excited to offer our guests even more opportunities to explore the remarkable beauty of the Hebrides,” said Rob Barlow, owner of Hebrides Cruises.

“Our cruises traditionally last between 6 and 10 nights, however we have seen a real demand for shorter cruises where travellers can combine our experiences with other things on their Scotland wish list. So we introduced the three-day ‘Hebrides Mini Magical Cruise’ which has proved hugely popular.

“Our ‘Search for Giants’ cruise is the only one of its kind in the UK and is a unique, unforgettable experience. That’s why it sells out very quickly.”

He added: “We added Lucy Mary to our fleet last year, offering our guests a new level of luxury and comfort as they immerse themselves in the stunning scenery and seascapes of Scotland’s west coast.

“As a result, the number of requests for private charter trips has also increased, reflecting the growing trend towards smaller, more intimate cruises that is expected to continue to generate excitement in 2025 and 2026.”

“Our newly launched calendar for 2026 promises exceptional, unforgettable cruises that combine luxury, comfort, the finest Scottish hospitality with adventure and breathtaking wildlife encounters.”
