Billie Eilish and Finneas have spoken out in favor of Kamala Harris. One reason they cite is “protecting reproductive freedom.”

Billie Eilish, 22, and her brother Finneas, 27, have thrown their support behind Kamala Harris, 59, in the US presidential election. In their joint Instagram video on Tuesday (September 17), Eilish appealed to her followers: “Vote like your life depends on it, because it does.”

“The decision is clear”

On the occasion of “National Voter Registration Day,” the two musicians are calling on their fans to register for the election and to cast their votes in the future. “We are voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz because they are fighting to protect our reproductive freedom, our planet and our democracy,” Eilish explained the voting recommendation.

“We cannot allow extremists to control our lives, our freedoms, and our future,” Finneas said. “The only way to stop them and the dangerous agenda of Project 2025” is to elect Kamala Harris, he stressed. In the message accompanying the video, she added: “The decision is clear.” She has 119 million followers on Instagram, plus her brother’s 4.2 million followers.

Billie Eilish and Finneas already met Joe Biden

It is no surprise that the siblings spoke out in favor of the Democratic candidates. Eilish and Finneas already supported Joe Biden, 81, in the last election. In a video in 2020, Eilish said: “Donald Trump destroyed our country and everything we hold dear.” Finneas also took aim at Trump on X (then Twitter), stressing that if Biden wins the election, he will “stand up for the interests of every single American.”

Eilish and Finneas also paid a visit to the US President in February 2022. “When I heard my friends @billieeilish and @finneas were in town for a show, I knew I had to invite them to the White House,” Biden wrote on social media alongside a photo with the musicians. “It was nice to see you and your family,” he added, and was happy that they met his dog Commander.

A week ago, Taylor Swift, 34, was the first musical heavyweight to speak out in favor of Harris and Walz, 60. In an Instagram post, the singer announced that she would vote for Kamala Harris “because she cares and fights for the rights that I believe need a fighter to represent them.” She described Harris as a “level-headed, gifted leader.”
