Start and broadcast date of season 21

The 21st season of “DSDS” will air in 2024. The 2023 edition was actually supposed to be the last season, but in the first live show of the 20th season, Dieter Bohlen announced: “There will be a 21st season!” Normally, every new “DSDS” season begins right at the beginning of the year. However, since the casting tour for season 21 did not start until December 16, 2023, the broadcast will also be postponed. “DSDS 2024”: Start and broadcast date

RTL has announced the start of season 21 for Wednesday, September 18, 2024. The linear program begins at the very best time – 8:15 p.m., prime time. The show will be available on the streaming service RTL+ ready for retrieval.

The 21st season of “DSDS” will be significantly shorter than many of the previous ones. Only 15 episodes are scheduled, while the last seasons usually contained between 18 and 20 episodes. The live shows in particular will be shortened, as only one of them is planned for 2024: Only the finale of “DSDS” 2024 will be broadcast live.

According to the chronology, the final would actually fall on November 6, a Wednesday. RTL but would probably not RTLif you skipped Saturday for this big party.

“DSDS” 2024: Age limit removed

“There is another innovation and it will really blow you away,” said DSDS icon Dieter Bohlen in his surprising announcement for season 21 of the casting show. Usually only participants between the ages of 16 and 30 are allowed to apply – this age limit has now been lifted. “I really fought for this for years,” reported Bohlen. From now on, all talents over 16 can apply, regardless of whether they are 40, 80 or 100 years old.

And in fact, some applicants seemed to have been waiting for this moment, because at the beginning of the casting, juror Pietro Lombardi said: “Today there were a few older candidates who really gave it their all and really delivered. Specifically: The oldest participant in this season is an impressive 92 years old. Of the more than 10,000 applications received, almost 50 percent were from people over 30 years old: This time, the overseas recall will take place in several picturesque locations on the Greek island of Crete.

“DSDS” 2024: Broadcast live in stream

“DSDS” 2024 will be broadcast on TV, streamed and on RTL+ Until now, all seasons were also available online on RTL+ watch and stream. To use the full range of the broadcaster’s own streaming platform, you need a subscription. The cheapest option currently costs 5.99 euros (as of August 2024).

There is no official announcement about this yet either. Laura Wontorra led viewers through this year’s season, but it is not yet known whether she will also be the presenter of DSDS in 2024.

Jury of the 21st season of “DSDS” 2024

Dieter Bohlen appeared on stage in the first live show of DSDS 2023 and announced the new season of the show. Last year, the jury of DSDS 2023 consisted of Dieter Bohlen, Pietro Lombardi, Katja Krasavice and Leony. Two of the faces will also be seen again in the DSDS jury in 2024: Bohlen and Lombardi will return to the judges’ desk. The two remaining places at the jury desk are occupied by pop singer Beatrice Egli and rapper Loredana.
