Malaysian King orders immediate, thorough investigation into alleged child abuse and criminal cases in care homes

Almost 100 bank accounts frozen

In addition, police chief Razarudin said authorities had frozen a total of 96 bank accounts linked to GISB worth over RM580,000 (US$135,000).

In addition, the authorities ordered the confiscation of eight vehicles.

CNA previously reported that GISB was founded in 2010 and has total assets of about RM325 million worldwide.

The police chief added on Tuesday that authorities may also summon GISB executive chairman and CEO Nasiruddin Mohd Ali in due course, but did not give a timetable for this.

Over the weekend, Mr Nasiruddin acknowledged in a video posted on the conglomerate’s Facebook page that there had been “one or two” cases of sodomy in the nursing homes, but denied other allegations of wrongdoing.

“There were one or two cases of sodomy, but why are they all lumped together?” he said.

Mr Nasirudin added: “I don’t want to blame the laws. It is true that we have done some things wrong in the eyes of the law, but couldn’t there be some advice or discussion first?”

When asked about the comments, Mr Razarudin told the media that there was no need for the police to contact the GISB before starting their investigation.

“Let me ask you: Do we have a conversation before we launch an investigation?

“He did mention that he had had discussions before, but not with me or (Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain, Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director), and I don’t know what was discussed,” Mr Razarudin said, according to the Malay Mail.
