Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas O’Connell are calling on their millions of viewers to vote for Kamala Harris in clear terms. There is a specific reason why they are speaking out today.

A week after Taylor Swift, another megastar, US singer Billie Eilish, has recommended the election of Kamala Harris as US president. “We are voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz because they are fighting to protect abortion and contraception, for the environment and for democracy,” Eilish says in a clip recorded together with her brother Finneas O’Connell on Instagram and X. “Vote like your life depends on it, because it does,” the singer adds. “We cannot allow extremists to control our lives, our freedom and our future,” her brother Finneas adds.

Together, the two are followed by more than 130 million accounts on the platforms. After about an hour, the post on Instagram already had over a million likes. Democrat Harris is running against Republican Donald Trump in the presidential election on November 5.

Call on “Voter Registration Day”

Eilish’s recommendation came on the so-called “Voter Registration Day”, exactly seven weeks before the election. This day is intended to remind Americans to check their voter registration or to register again. Since there is no registration requirement in the United States, citizens in many states have to register themselves on the electoral roll.

Superstar Taylor Swift had previously spoken out in favor of the Democrat. She would vote for Harris and her vice presidential candidate Tim Walz in the presidential election on November 5, the singer announced in a post on Instagram. Swift has enormous influence among her fans and has around 284 million followers on the platform.
